Recently, the most frequently asked question has been about phone number verification services. I've also encountered many pitfalls myself, so I might as well summarize my experiences.
Basically, phone number verification platforms are about renting virtual phone numbers to receive SMS messages. They are especially useful for registering on overseas websites or testing APIs. Instead of spending money on new SIM cards, using this temporary solution is more convenient. I've tried several platforms before—some didn't receive messages, others had delays of half a day. Eventually, I found a few decent ones, and today I want to share them with everyone.
SMS-Activate is the most reliable; verification codes usually arrive within 10 seconds. It covers a wide range of countries and is particularly suitable for cross-border testing. Super Cloud SMS performs well among Chinese verification platforms; US numbers typically reply within 10-30 seconds, Chinese numbers are even faster, around 5-20 seconds. However, during peak times, it might be a bit slower. 5SIM has a very user-friendly interface, and its API documentation is clear. You can normally receive verification codes when registering for Google, Twitter, and other services. Bird Verification mainly targets domestic applications, with messages arriving within 5-15 seconds, offering good value. Lastly, Getsmscode is cheap but suitable for light use; it may experience delays on less popular platforms.
A few points to keep in mind when using these services: some numbers are shared and may have been used by others; verification messages might be delayed, especially for less common countries or apps; always choose reputable platforms—don't just go for the cheapest option. My advice is, if you're only testing APIs, any platform supporting API access will do; but if you need stable registration on a specific site, it's best to prepare multiple numbers so you can switch quickly if one becomes invalid. Many platforms also support one-click number switching, which is very practical.
Based on my experience, SMS-Activate and 5SIM offer the most stable performance, with low delays and comprehensive country coverage. If you don't receive SMS, try switching to a different country number or refreshing the number list—sometimes the target service blocks certain virtual number ranges. Overall, verification platforms can save a lot of trouble, but they shouldn't be used as long-term primary numbers, as privacy and security cannot be guaranteed.
