Here is my understanding of family estate planning for going abroad:

1. The optimal solution: Singapore / Hong Kong passport (tax resident) + New Zealand / Australia PR (as an extreme risk-avoidance measure)
2. The very best solution: Singapore / Hong Kong passport (tax resident) + New Zealand / Australia PR (risk-avoidance) + European Golden Visa (free access to 27 Schengen countries)
Regarding tax residency, currently Singapore and Hong Kong are the best options, with different pathways: Hong Kong offers certainty but requires 7 years of residence, while Singapore is more flexible and has recently relaxed requirements—some people obtain PR after just 1 year.
As for the European Golden Visa, I’ve discussed its cost-effectiveness before. In 2017, I applied for Greece, and a single property covered three generations of my family (parents, in-laws, children), directly connecting us to all 27 Schengen countries, making travel and asset management very convenient.
