A small factory in Shandong, making elderly scooters.

Went and sued Xiaomi's car.
Said Xiaomi SU7's headlights and bumper look like Porsche.
Demanded cancellation of these appearance patents.
Court opened today. An ant fighting an elephant.
The elderly scooter maker's reasoning is pretty "straightforward":
Your design has minor changes.
No originality, no confusion.
Shouldn't be monopolized, should be shared.
Xiaomi's side disagrees:
We invested billions, hired top-tier teams.
Our design was praised by Porsche as "great minds think alike."
You say no originality?
But both are secretly pleased:
If elderly scooter wins, can copy freely.
If loses, still gets famous, traffic maxed out.
If Xiaomi wins, patents more solid.
If loses, ironically proves design is hot, PR takes off.
Previously: if not endorsed by Porsche, not considered top-tier.
Now: if not sued by Shandong elderly scooter makers, not considered truly top-tier.
Porsche: You Shandong guys keep competing, I'm taking a break.
