Abstract generation in progress

Recently, interesting proposals have emerged from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, focusing on the content of the blockchain’s impossibility triangle, specifically on the security aspects of wallets and smart contracts. Buterin’s approach suggests that improving user protection requires sophisticated technical solutions and a deeper understanding of user intentions.

Security as a Key Part of the Technological Triangle

Blockchain faces three fundamental challenges that make up this impossibility triangle: security, decentralization, and scalability. Recently, the Ethereum community has mainly focused on developing scalability and decentralization, while security aspects have been somewhat overlooked. This shift stems from practical ecosystem needs, but according to Buterin, the security component of this triangle should not be neglected.

Specific Security Mechanisms Proposed by Buterin

According to PANews reports, Buterin recommends implementing several key mechanisms. The first is a transaction verification feature that allows users to specify their intended on-chain action and then decide to confirm or cancel based on simulation results. The second involves spending limits and multi-signature authorization, serving as an additional layer of protection. The goal is to align user intentions with expected outcomes, significantly reducing the risk of unwanted operations.

Challenges in Achieving Absolute Security

However, Buterin realistically admits that absolute security is unattainable. Instead, he advocates a multi-layered approach to verifying user intentions, gradually increasing system resilience. This way, the security content of the triangle can be better addressed. Previously, Buterin also explored integrating large personal language models (LLMs) to improve decentralized governance efficiency, indicating his approach of combining different technologies to enhance security and functionality.

Vitalik Buterin’s proposals thus demonstrate how to increase the security elements within the impossibility triangle without compromising other key aspects of blockchain.
