Effort that doesn't reach a certain level isn't really effort. Some things can't be avoided just because you find some reasons. That's called responsibility. Don't despise your scores; your scores are basically commensurate with your effort. Effort doesn't guarantee success; it can only increase the probability of success. When you build a solid foundation of probability, good luck will come more easily.
