Greed, hatred, and ignorance—the roots of all afflictions—can be overcome through discipline, concentration, and wisdom. Among them, hatred is the most harmful poison, as it is the foundation of all troubles. Greed: (wealth, desire, fame, food, sleep) excessive attachment to external objects, an unshakable obsession. Hatred (resentment): aversion and resentment towards adversity, temper tantrums, emotional outbursts, and harmful behaviors. Ignorance: an inability to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, and a state of foolishness and ignorance about causality. These are the three fundamental afflictions of humans, commonly known as the three poisons. They symbolize: the pigeon (habit of constant eating, insatiable desire), the snake (aggression and destructiveness), and the pig (confusion and ignorance, or deluded fantasies of eating and sleeping). Extending to arrogance (pride), doubt (blind denial, negation of laws and truths). Precepts restrain greed, meditation calms hatred, and wisdom dispels ignorance. On the path of practice, one must strive to overcome inner greed, hatred, and ignorance to achieve mental peace and liberation. $DUCK $GPS $PLUME
