In the crypto world, many female peers are talking about "how to be more charming and likable" to get ahead... but I increasingly feel that what we truly need is not to please others, but to learn to possess a sense of power.
The word "power" is especially unfamiliar and even somewhat negative to women in the Chinese-speaking world. From a young age, we are taught to be chaste, obedient, not too assertive, and to be "well-behaved" like property.
Now that we have assets and independence, we still don't dare to say "no" directly or make demands. We're afraid of appearing aggressive, or of seeming pitiful and wronged. As a result, we habitually use vague expressions like "guess how I feel" or "whatever you want to do is fine," or we express dissatisfaction through sarcastic remarks or grievances.
The things we truly desire, we never dare to confidently and happily voice. Our body language also betrays us: when making demands, we fidget and hesitate, avoid eye contact, or try to escape... But true strength is lifting your head high, standing tall, and confidently saying, "I want this, what do you think?" The feeling of expressing oneself with light and power is the essence of a sense of authority.
Power is not about controlling, destroying, or hurting others, nor is it about dressing up in success to pose. It’s actually very simple: delve into your deepest desires, fully connect with and express them, then use that to influence others and the world.
When you can do this, you are no longer a passive victim of life, but a creator of the world you want. In the crypto space, this means daring to go all-in on projects you believe in, openly saying "I don’t support this narrative," or directly requesting "I want this share / this boundary" in collaborations, rather than always saying "whatever."
When you trust your needs and feelings and speak based on them, you will suddenly feel—I'm truly strong and powerful. Women who want to have a voice in the coming era and be truly respected in relationships must learn to master this sense of power. It’s not about confrontation, but about influence and contagion: when faced with resistance from others, stay curious, persist in your desires, until they change their minds. When we can confidently express our desires, we often unleash transformative love and creativity.
Have you ever had a moment when you suddenly dared to speak up for yourself? Or are you still using "whatever" and "guess" to protect yourself?
