The Federal Reserve Chair candidate sparks new waves, with independence becoming the market focus

The suspense over who will lead the Federal Reserve in 2026 remains unresolved. The popular candidate, Hasset, recently made a rare statement. Addressing investors' concerns about the central bank's independence, he was firm—if appointed, he will fully defend the Fed's independence and enhance decision-making transparency, and will not allow political forces to interfere with monetary policy.

The market's attention then shifted to the current Chair, Powell. Hasset dismissed rumors of a criminal investigation into Powell, calling it merely "routine information requests," and expects no substantive issues to arise. He publicly supported Powell's continued tenure. Once this statement was made, market volatility increased noticeably, and investors began reassessing risk expectations.

Interestingly, Hasset also introduced a new idea for housing reform—proposing to allow people to withdraw funds from their 401(k) accounts for down payments. This idea sparked imagination within the financial industry, with banks potentially launching targeted innovative credit products. However, whether policy innovation and central bank independence can progress simultaneously, and how the final candidate will balance these factors, are decisions that could ultimately reshape the direction of the U.S. financial ecosystem.

Hasset's move this time, to put it nicely, is about maintaining independence; to put it bluntly, it's a power struggle... Anyway, the crypto world just watches how the Fed plays it.

Hasset's way of speaking sounds quite impressive, but when it comes down to actually being in the position, it's a different story.

Hmm... The rhetoric about the Fed's independence is the same every time. In the end, isn't it just a political game?

Hasset's rhetoric sounds nice, but I'm more concerned about whether Bitcoin can break through 33k...

Hasset's recent remarks are quite interesting; the more aggressively he talks about central bank independence, the more the market gets nervous.

Hasset's words sound like a warning... If he really moves up, will our crypto market go up or down?
