The solution will serve as a foundation for the development of tokenized products, including money market funds, exchange-traded funds, deposits, and stablecoins.

State Street, one of the world’s largest custodian banks, announced the launch of the Digital Asset Platform, an infrastructure platform built for institutional clients that enables the issuance, custody, and servicing of tokenized assets.

The solution is positioned as a technological “bridge” between traditional financial services and blockchain infrastructure. Built for large-scale use, the platform allows institutional clients to securely work with tokenized assets within a unified ecosystem integrated with State Street’s existing banking systems.

Platform functionality includes:

  • Digital wallet management
  • Custodial services
  • Cash operations
  • Support for the development of tokenized products across multiple jurisdictions

The solution operates with both private and public blockchains and is equipped with advanced mechanisms for cybersecurity, operational control, and regulatory compliance, both at the level of banking infrastructure and distributed ledgers.

According to Joerg Ambrosius, President of Investment Services at State Street, the platform’s launch marks the bank’s transition from experimentation to practical, scalable solutions. He emphasized that combining connectivity to distributed ledgers with global asset servicing expertise and rigorous control systems allows financial institutions to integrate tokenization into their core strategy with a high level of trust.

State Street’s Chief Product Officer Donna Milrod noted that clients expect not experimental solutions but reliable, production-ready infrastructure. According to her, the platform provides a secure and compliant environment, simplifies operations, and enables the scaling of digital products in line with market and regulatory requirements.

The launch of the Digital Asset Platform is part of State Street’s unified digital asset strategy. Its development involved teams from across the bank as well as State Street Investment Management, resulting in an integrated solution for the institutional market. The bank expects the platform to become the foundation for the global expansion of tokenized financial instruments.

State Street is doing this, and it's somewhat interesting; traditional finance is finally not pretending anymore.

State Street is developing this tokenization platform, essentially still engaging in traditional financial market efficiency arbitrage... Where is the on-chain evidence? Where are the actual trading volume data? It's just another round of conceptual packaging.
