We've been gradually shifting our community infrastructure away from Discord, expanding into alternative support channels like live chat and email ticketing systems. The reason is straightforward: Discord's structure creates real vulnerabilities when it comes to user security. Even with aggressive moderation and instant bans, bad actors can still slide into DMs to target users with phishing schemes or other scams. It's almost impossible to monitor or prevent those direct messages effectively. The platform's open nature means that despite our best efforts, scammers find workarounds. Moving toward dedicated support channels gives us much better control over user interactions and makes it significantly harder for malicious actors to operate undetected.

Leaving Discord is indeed a wise choice; the DM section is really a security black hole.

NGL, the Discord DM system really can't be defended; I should have switched earlier.

It should have been done this way earlier. The Discord system truly can't prevent scammers, and the tricks in DMs are endless.

Nah, Discord DMs really can't be stopped, it's about time to change. What problems can this self-built system solve?

NGL, the DM vulnerability in Discord is indeed a big issue, but would this kind of migration make the user experience worse?

honestly think this is the right call architecturally speaking. discord's dm attack surface has been a known security gap for years now—most serious protocols figured this out ages ago. the infrastructure shift mirrors what we saw during the 2017-2018 mainstream adoption wave, when projects realized open comms need actual governance layers. pretty basic network effect management ngl
