A property dispute involving XRP and Ethereum has caused a stir in the courtroom. Kirk West was sued for allegedly stealing over $11 million worth of XRP from Nancy Jones, the widow of a American country singer, but he counterclaimed, denying all theft allegations.

The story begins simply—after George Jones passed away, West met Nancy and fell in love. During their relationship, West claimed to be a "cryptocurrency expert," helping Nancy invest in various digital assets such as XRP, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. What seemed like a promising investment story unraveled amid suspicion. Last year, Nancy, suspecting West of infidelity, kicked him out of her residence, and she later discovered that her Ledger hardware wallet stored in a safe had gone missing.

The theft was quite substantial: $400,000 in cash plus 5.5 million XRP (valued at $11.6 million at the time). Nancy subsequently recovered about 5 million XRP with the help of her lawyer, but 483,000 XRP (currently worth about $1 million) remains unaccounted for.

In the counterclaim, West's stance completely changed the narrative. He denied any theft, claiming that the assets came from his "wise investment" decisions. He requested the court to award him 50% of the assets jointly held by both parties at the time of their breakup last year, including $5 million worth of gold and silver, $1 million in cash, and cryptocurrency holdings.

According to records from Williamson County Court, this property dispute has been in judicial proceedings since October of last year. The total value of the digital assets involved exceeds $16 million, making it one of the most notable civil disputes over crypto assets in recent years.
