Another star project has undergone major surgery in the bear market.

Berachain just announced a bold decision—massive layoffs of retail marketing teams, with even Chief Developer Alberto having left. It seems that the approach of pleasing retail investors over the past few months has completely backfired.

**What the data says**

Since October 10th, the foundation has been frank: in the current crypto winter, marketing strategies aimed at retail investors are "barely effective." Continuing to spend money on promotion is less useful than completely changing the approach.

The new rules of the game are clear—resources are concentrated on 3-5 "high-confidence" applications, allowing business and technical teams to deeply incubate. Moreover, the only standard for supporting projects is that their revenue potential cannot rely on crypto market fluctuations.

**What does this mean behind the scenes**

Simply put, they are no longer playing the traffic game. Projects that rely on eyeball economics, MEME coins, or purely hype-driven expectations may fade out in the Berachain ecosystem. What project teams truly want is long-term revenue—if they can generate their own cash flow, a cold market won't kill them.

The survival rules in a bear market have changed. In the past, whoever could attract attention won; now, whoever can make money lasts longer. This isn't a new discovery, but few projects are actually doing it.

What’s your view? Do you support project teams pragmatically cutting marketing and focusing on survival? Or do you think that once the retail base is gone, the project will inevitably fade?

Another round of layoffs and marketing cuts, basically meaning there's no money left. Alberto leaving is the biggest signal; the core technology team has also fled. How do we proceed from here?

Basically, it's just running out of money and starting to shift the blame onto retail investors.

Honestly, I've seen many cases of cutting marketing efforts, but the key is whether it can truly generate revenue.

This is what real life looks like. It should have been done this way a long time ago. Retail marketing strategies are just scam games. Anyway, with the shovel team all leaving, it shows that they understand everything.
