Oh my god, I just saw the news about the Trust Wallet security incident, and I was completely stunned😅 $7 million affected, this is too terrifying for us newbies!
But the good news is that the official has confirmed they will compensate all affected users and has started the claim process. I quickly checked my wallet version, luckily I am not using version 2.68, but I still broke out in a cold sweat.
The official upgrade steps seem a bit complicated, but if you follow them carefully, it's not too difficult:
- Don't open the browser extension on desktop yet
- Follow the instructions to disable the old version in the Chrome extension panel
- Then update to version 2.69 (this is the latest security version)
By the way, if you are really affected, you need to submit a claim through the support form on the Trust Wallet portal. Remember to prepare your wallet address, attacker’s address, and transaction hash.
This incident also reminds us newbies that regularly checking for program updates is really important! Has anyone else encountered similar wallet security issues? Let’s discuss how to prevent them🙏
