Jin10 reported on August 3 that on August 2 local time, the U.S. federal regulatory agency's special prosecutor's office confirmed that former special prosecutor Jack Smith, who was responsible for the Trump case, is under investigation for "suspected illegal political activities." Smith previously led the investigation and litigation regarding Trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and the improper handling of government classified documents. Smith left the U.S. Department of Justice on January 10 of this year.
