Someone on X tossed out a picture of a Bitcoin anime girl and asked Musk to “turn it into an animation”—and the result: he replied in seconds with a six-second clip. The OG meme from eight years ago, when the account got locked, is back in action.
(Background: Crypto market volume has fallen back to the 2022 bear-market levels; ETH trading volume is down more than BTC, and Gas fees hit a historical low)

Crypto community account @TxCryptoSaurus posted a static 2D anime-style illustration of a Bitcoin anthropomorphic character on X, tagged Musk (Elon Musk), and left three words: “Animate that”. A few hours later, Musk’s reply box popped up with a six-second animated short—the BTC girl in the frame was subtly swaying.

From stillness to motion: Grok AI steps in

This animation is likely generated using xAI’s Grok AI image animation feature, demonstrating AI’s ability to breathe life into static illustrations. As of now, the reply has racked up 1,252 likes, 349 replies, and 205 reposts, spreading rapidly across the crypto space.

The “Bitcoin girl” prototype comes from the Cryptocurrency Girls website. In this series, mainstream crypto assets are personified as anime girls; Bitcoin is naturally one of the best-known characters, circulating long-term in crypto culture as meme material.

The account ban from eight years ago—played out again today

For old-school people in the crypto scene, the combination of the Bitcoin girl and Musk carries special historical meaning. In October 2018, Musk tweeted “Wanna buy some Bitcoin? 😉😉” and included this anime image—only for Twitter to mistakenly flag his account as hacked, resulting in the account being locked. That detour became a long-running legend in crypto circles.

Then in May 2020, he fired again: “How much for some anime Bitcoin?” He showed up beside the Bitcoin girl twice—Musk was already a long-time veteran of this meme.

This time, he didn’t just post the image—he personally stepped in to make her move. And he used his own AI. After watching in the crypto world, all you can really say is: this man never lacks the desire to perform. BTC is currently priced around ,500 USD; the price hasn’t moved much due to this animation stir, but Twitter’s hype clearly got a head start.
