IREN Stock Climbs 5% Overnight; Anthropic Seeks 1.4GW Australian Data Center Capacity

According to The Australian Financial Review, IREN Ltd. shares rose 5% in overnight trading on Sunday after Anthropic privately tendered for 1.4 gigawatts of cloud capacity from Australian data centers. Anthropic's request for proposals, which was reviewed by AFR, was sent to CDC Data Centers, AirTrunk, NextDC, IREN, and Stack, among others. The AI startup is expected to make a final decision within six weeks, with potential to split the contract into four or five smaller deals rather than selecting a single provider.
