Techub News, according to The Block, the chairs of seven specialized committees in the UK Parliament sent a letter to the British government on Sunday, urging it to impose a comprehensive ban on cryptocurrency donations to political parties. The letter, jointly signed by Liam Byrne, chair of the Business and Trade Select Committee, and six other colleagues, pointed out that cryptocurrency donations undermine transparency, traceability, and enforcement in political financing.

Reform UK became the first UK political party to accept cryptocurrency donations in May 2025, and any ban would have a direct impact on it. However, the 9 million pound donation it received from cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne was made in fiat currency.
