On February 28, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that the airstrikes by the United States and Israel targeting sites within Iran are premeditated acts of armed aggression, an invasion of a sovereign and independent United Nations member state, openly violating fundamental principles and norms of international law. Russia demands an immediate return to political and diplomatic solutions to resolve the current situation. On the same day, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev stated via social media that all negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are cover operations, and that the U.S. has no genuine intention of reaching any agreement. State Duma International Affairs Committee Chairman Slutsky said on the 28th that the attack by the U.S. and Israel on Iran is a premeditated invasion, and that escalating tensions could lead to unpredictable and extremely serious consequences in the region. In this situation, the United Nations Security Council should hold an emergency meeting immediately. (CCTV News)
