CFTC Chief Appoints Crypto Law Specialist Michael Passalacqua to Key Advisory Role

U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig has tapped attorney Michael Passalacqua, a seasoned crypto law specialist with deep blockchain litigation expertise, for a newly created Senior Advisor position. The appointment underscores the CFTC's commitment to strengthening its crypto regulatory framework. Passalacqua, who previously served at the prestigious international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, brings substantial experience in the digital assets sector. He held an Assistant General Counsel position at a major crypto capital markets firm, where he oversaw critical regulatory compliance and trading operations related to crypto assets, positioning him as a natural fit for this expanding crypto-focused advisory role at the commission.
