Many people don't understand why Jia Guolong suddenly started to oppose Luo Yonghao again.

Actually, it's very simple. He tried to soften his stance and didn't mention this matter, but as a result, sales have been bleak for a month. To maintain cash flow, he had to shut down more than 100 stores. There are a total of 300 stores. Originally, he was preparing for an IPO, and with the capital market being good these past two years, the shareholders behind are all waiting to buy Gulfstream jets and yachts.

Now, whether he can survive or not is another story, a stark contrast from heaven to hell.

Some people say Luo Yonghao is just a guy who complains about food, not a net blackmouth.
Let me make an analogy: Luo Yonghao urinated in a vegetable patch called Xibei. If an ordinary person urinates there, it wouldn't be very harmful. But Luo Yonghao, as a top blogger with millions online, has such a strong demonstrative and even inciting influence that the uninformed masses think Xibei is just a toilet, and they all want to urinate there. The consequence is that one-third of the vegetables in the patch die. Some also advise Jia Boss not to speak out and to be a shrinking turtle. In fact, if he doesn't speak out and resist, Xibei will be regarded as a toilet forever, and all the vegetables will be burned to death.

Later, Luo Yonghao also realized that some vegetables at Xibei, like broccoli, indeed cost more than buying fresh ones, but the impact has already gone deep into people's minds. The stereotype is that a 1-year-old baby eating 2-year-old broccoli is associated with Xibei.

The bottom line of China's catering industry is too low. It has always been a competition of low quality. Cheap is truly cheap, and unhygienic and unhealthy are also true. Many practitioners in the catering industry feel that Xibei is wronged, including Yu Donglai and Chen Weixing, and Yu Minhong. In my opinion, Xibei is the tall one among the short ones, holding onto cleanliness as its core, becoming the ceiling in this field, which is actually the most basic bottom line of catering.

But from the public perspective, people think your pre-made dishes are still so expensive, but in reality, some restaurants' hygiene and other aspects are not even as good as Xibei's, just that no one discloses it.
Moreover, most of the criticism comes from people who don't eat there often; those who do eat there regularly are also affected and stop going.

I personally also find Xibei not tasty. I only went once, but whether it's delicious or not is subjective. The fact that they can open so many stores shows there is still a market. The catering industry is highly competitive, and it's no longer just about taste. Now, emotional value matters more. Some barbecue shops even start hiring beautiful women to dance to attract customers, hoping everyone will record videos and post on social media to create more curiosity effects. When Xibei's online reviews turn negative like this, it will definitely lose some of its display value. Some people stop eating there, thinking it might make them look foolish.

All of this ultimately requires someone to pay the price. Jia Guolong probably also feels quite successful, as he was about to go public. But he has been constantly criticized by netizens, and some even doxxed his family. Business is also struggling to continue. In the blink of an eye, half of his empire is gone. From his experience, he hates Luo Yonghao deeply, so launching a online smear campaign was very easy. Xibei's reputation has already become trash; it's a dead horse trying to be a living horse doctor.
Chinese regulators prefer to muddle through with half-measures and slap fines, so the worst-case scenario is being banned altogether. He didn't really engage in online activities initially, and taking down Luo Yonghao could be seen as revenge. Unfortunately, Luo Yonghao's creditors—if Luo Yonghao is banned and leaves the internet—probably won't be able to do much else. Unless he goes overseas like Wang Zhi'an and starts fighting as a rebel. I can't think of any other abilities he might have.
So if Jia Guolong continues to mess around online, he only has the path of sneaky development and cowardice to go.
