According to CNBC, President Trump is set to head to France for the Group of Seven summit starting Monday (June 16) in Évian-les-Bains, as the U.S. and Iran near completion of an anticipated deal to end the Middle East war. A senior Trump administration official said the deal could be signed as soon as Sunday (June 15), though Iranian state media disputed the timing. Trump indicated Saturday that if finalized, the Strait of Hormuz would open following the deal's signing.
The summit will also focus on artificial intelligence regulation, with OpenAI chief Sam Altman, along with executives from Anthropic and Google, set to attend and participate in talks with G7 leaders. Europe aims to rein in Big Tech and regulate AI, while the U.S. under Trump has opposed aggressive regulation of the nascent industry.
