According to CoinDesk, traders on Deribit this week accumulated a large-scale call spread position on Bitcoin expiring July 31. They bought 20,000 call options with a strike of $70,000 and simultaneously sold 20,000 calls at $72,000, totaling 40,000 contracts with a notional value of approximately $2.5 billion. The positioning reflects expectations for a modest price increase toward the $70,000–$72,000 range, according to Deribit chief commercial officer Jean-David Péquignot. The expiry date falls just two days after the Federal Reserve's rate decision on July 29, suggesting large traders may be positioning ahead of the policy announcement.
