SpaceX Stock Plunges 27% Since IPO, Threatening Mirae Asset Securities' Q2 Valuation Gains

According to Yonhapinfomax, SpaceX shares dropped 27% since the company's IPO in late June, falling to $123.99 on July 17 from $170.86 at quarter-end. The decline threatens to reverse Q2 valuation gains for South Korean brokerage Mirae Asset Securities, which holds SpaceX shares under a fair-value-through-profit-or-loss (FVPL) accounting structure. With an estimated Q2 book value of 4.8–5 trillion Korean won, the 27% drop could trigger approximately 1.3 trillion won in valuation losses in Q3. Mirae Asset said it holds SpaceX for the long term, citing low acquisition costs and stable core business performance, though upcoming lockup releases in August pose additional downside risks. Multiple securities firms have lowered price targets following the sharp decline.
