South Korea Unveils Record 800 Trillion Won Budget for 2027, AI Investment Priority

According to Yonhapinfomax, South Korea's government unveiled a record budget plan on July 13, projecting national tax revenues to reach over 500 trillion won in 2027, up from an initial forecast of 412 trillion won, driven by semiconductor supercycles and AI expansion. The government plans total expenditures of over 800 trillion won, a 10% increase from 2026, with 50 trillion won in structural adjustments including 15% cuts to discretionary spending and 10% reductions in mandatory outlays. These savings will be redirected to three mega projects: semiconductors, AI data centers, and physical AI infrastructure.
