SEC Files Complaint Against Villar Family for Insider Trading Over P1.33 Trillion Asset Discrepancy

According to Rappler, on Monday, July 13, SEC chair Francis Lim said the regulator has filed a complaint against Villar Land Holdings and family members for alleged insider trading and market manipulation, stressing that no powerful family can escape prosecution. The case centers on Villar Land's 2024 financial disclosures, which initially showed assets of approximately P1.33 trillion before being revised downward to P35.7 billion following an external audit. Lim reiterated: "If you deserve to be sued, we will sue you."
