According to South Korea’s Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on Sunday, Samsung Electronics’ semiconductor factory stoppage for one day would cause direct losses of 1 trillion Korean won (approximately $668 million). He added that a brief production line halt could lead to months of recovery time, with potential losses reaching up to 100 trillion won if materials must be discarded due to strikes.
Samsung and its Korean union will resume salary negotiations on Monday with government mediator involvement, potentially easing market concerns about disruptions to the tech giant’s operations.
