PBOC Research Chief Wang Xin Focuses on Stablecoin Regulation, Cross-Border Payments on June 17

According to Jin10, on June 17, People's Bank of China research bureau director Wang Xin outlined the central bank's policy stance on stablecoins and cross-border payment systems at the 2026 Lujiazui Forum. Wang said the PBOC will closely monitor stablecoins' impact on the international monetary system and cross-border payments, while enhancing interconnectivity between central bank and retail payment systems. He emphasized the need to prudently explore new payment tools, refine regulatory frameworks, and promote international payments that are more inclusive, efficient, and resilient to support sustainable development and global economic growth.
