Over 70% of Chinese Users Form Emotional Connections with AI, 94.4% Aware of AI Social Products

According to Economic Daily citing a Tencent Research Institute survey released on May 31, over 70% of Chinese users have established emotional connections with AI tools, with some developing dependency. The survey of 2,903 Chinese internet users aged 18-40 found that 94.4% are aware of at least one AI social product or feature, and 98.8% have actual usage experience.

When facing thoughts difficult to share with others, 56% of users chose to confide in AI, nearly four times higher than the 14.4% who confide in real people. AI social assistance tools showed the highest adoption rate at 62.5%.
