OpenAI Plans $20B+ Data Center Campus in Georgia, to Deploy 3.2GW Power by 2032

According to Odaily, OpenAI announced on Wednesday plans for Project Camellia, a data center campus in Effingham County, Georgia, with a minimum investment of $20 billion. The facility will span 1,400 acres and require 3.2 gigawatts of power, with operations expected to support thousands of construction jobs and over 1,000 permanent positions upon completion.

OpenAI has signed an agreement with Georgia Power for phased power deployment between 2028 and 2032. The company pledged $80 million in community benefits and up to $71 million in Codex credits for eligible Georgia students. Project details including infrastructure design, financing, and operational structure remain under development.
