According to Reuters, on May 11, OpenAI launched a majority-owned Deployment Company with more than $4 billion in initial investment and acquired Tomoro, an AI consulting firm formed in 2023. The new unit will place engineers inside client organizations to identify frontier AI applications, with the Tomoro acquisition adding approximately 150 AI engineers and deployment specialists. The multiyear partnership involves 19 firms and is led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as co-lead founding partners.
