Novo Nordisk CEO Confirms Semaglutide Data Protection in China Extends Through April 2027

According to the Economic Observer, Novo Nordisk's CEO Mike Doustdar confirmed that semaglutide's regulatory data protection in China will extend through the second quarter of 2027, after which generic versions can legally enter the market. The extended exclusive period of over one year is based on the China-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement, not domestic Chinese regulations. Multiple local pharmaceutical companies have submitted generic drug applications awaiting approval.
