Novartis Acquires Myricx Bio for $1.5B to Secure Next-Gen ADC Payload Technology

ABL Bio-7.14%
According to Seoul Economic, Novartis acquired British biotech firm Myricx Bio today for up to $1.5 billion, signaling major pharma's shift toward next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). The deal includes an $1.1 billion upfront payment and up to $400 million in milestone payments. Myricx specializes in NMTi (N-myristoyltransferase inhibitor) payload technology for ADCs, representing a novel payload approach beyond current industry standards. Following Daiichi Sankyo and AstraZeneca's success with Enhertu, major pharmaceutical companies are increasingly competing to develop ADCs targeting new antigens and incorporating dual payloads. Korean biotech companies are accelerating similar initiatives: Ligand Chem Biosciences is licensing novel target antibodies, ABL Bio is advancing dual-payload and novel-payload ADC programs, and Genome & Company is developing ADCs targeting CNTN4 and ITGB4 antigens.
