According to Maeil Gyeongje, NH Amundi Asset Management recently launched HANARO US AI Optical Communication TOP10 to compete with Samsung's KODEX 미국AI광통신네트워크, which has surged 30% since its March listing and raised 380 billion Korean won.
The two ETFs employ contrasting strategies despite tracking the same theme. KODEX concentrates on three core holdings—Lumentum (23.5%), Coherent (20.8%), and Ciena (20.6%)—which together represent 64.9% of the fund, betting on major infrastructure equipment suppliers serving big tech data center buildouts. HANARO takes a balanced approach, distributing 54.4% across four leaders: Lumentum (15.5%), Coherent (14.8%), Marvell Technology (14.4%), and Corning (9.7%), focusing on the semiconductor and optical component supply chain tied to Nvidia's ecosystem.
