According to Beating, during a Thursday internal employee meeting, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that the company's large-scale reorganization in recent months contained missteps. AI agent development has not accelerated as expected over the past four months, and earlier restructuring investments and architectural adjustments have yet to yield tangible results.
Meta laid off approximately 10% of its workforce in May to fund expensive AI infrastructure and reassigned about 7,000 employees to AI teams. Zuckerberg admitted management miscalculated the timing of the reorganization, resulting in a messy transition process, but predicted benefits from AI investments would emerge within three to six months. Technical Officer Andrew Bosworth also disclosed that an investigation found employee data was not leaked to AI training systems, and if the employee monitoring program resumes, it will be voluntary rather than mandatory as initially implemented in April.
