Kremlin Demands Explanation After Apple Removes VK Apps from App Store on June 25

According to Reuters, on June 25, the Kremlin demanded that Apple explain the removal of multiple applications operated by Russian tech company VK from the App Store. VK stated the apps were taken down "without any warning or explanation" despite the company not being under U.S. sanctions. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called Apple's actions "completely unreasonable and unacceptable" toward Russian users, adding that Russia would directly engage with Apple and may reconsider future cooperation if no satisfactory explanation is provided.
