According to Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, during a recent interview on The Master Investor Podcast, he warned that investors may be underestimating the economic and geopolitical risks facing global markets and said he would not buy the broader stock market or long-dated US Treasurys at their current prices.
Dimon pointed to wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, strained US-China relations, and rising military spending as major threats to the global economic outlook. He expressed particular concern about persistent US budget deficits, arguing that continued government borrowing could eventually force investors to demand higher interest rates to hold US debt. While Dimon acknowledged the global economy's resilience, he warned that a combination of rising debt, geopolitical instability, and higher interest rates could eventually create serious economic pressure.
