According to Jin10, Japan's labor ministry advisory panel recommended on Tuesday, July 29, raising the national average minimum wage by 4.9% to 1,176 yen per hour (approximately $7.18), effective October. The increase, while lower than last year's record 6.3% rise, represents 55 yen per hour and is the second-highest increase on record. The new standard will apply to over 50 million workers nationwide and will be gradually implemented after local authorities finalize regional rates. The wage growth is expected to support the Bank of Japan's efforts to establish a virtuous cycle of higher wages driving stronger demand and stable inflation.
