According to CCTV News, Japan's House of Councillors Internal Affairs Committee held a meeting on May 26 to discuss legislation establishing a National Intelligence Bureau. Prime Minister Takayaki Takaichi attended and answered questions from opposition parties. The ruling coalition plans to vote on the bill in the committee on May 26 and pass it in a full House of Councillors session on May 27. The legislation, which already passed the House of Representatives on April 23, proposes establishing a national intelligence system centered on a National Intelligence Conference with a National Intelligence Bureau as its executive body to oversee security, counterterrorism, and foreign intelligence operations.
