Google Taps Samsung to Build AI Chip Component Using 2-Nanometer Process, Report Says

According to a June 11 report, Google is in talks with Samsung Electronics to manufacture part of its next-generation AI chip. Samsung would use its 2-nanometer process to build a component linking the tensor processing unit to memory, while TSMC produces the main component. Google is collaborating with Taiwan-based chip designer MediaTek on the design. The AI chip, codenamed Icefish, is expected to enter mass production as early as 2028.
