CME Data Shows 51.9% Odds of Fed Holding Rates Steady Through End of 2026; Rate Hike Odds Rise to 37.3%

According to CME FedWatch tool data as of May 29, the probability of the Federal Reserve maintaining rates unchanged through the end of 2026 stands at 51.9%, while year-end rate-cut expectations have largely faded to just 0.5% odds of a cumulative 25 basis point cut. Rate-hike odds have risen significantly: 37.3% for a cumulative 25 basis point increase, 9.3% for 50 basis points, and 1% for 75 basis points.
