According to Odaily, Brazil's São Paulo State Public Prosecutor's Office filed a civil lawsuit against World developer Tools for Humanity and Amazon AWS Serviços Brasil, alleging they illegally collected iris scan data from over 400,000 people in São Paulo. The prosecutors are seeking to halt the practice of paying participants 300 to 700 Brazilian reais in exchange for iris data, demand permanent deletion of collected information, and award at least 240 million reais (approximately $47.2 million) in collective moral damages compensation.
