Bittensor Taoflow Upgrade Cuts Daily TAO Emissions to 3,600 After December Halving

TAO-0.67%
According to Crypto Briefing (May 25), Bittensor's Taoflow upgrade, activated in November 2025, replaced price-based TAO emission logic with a net capital flow model that distributes rewards based on staking inflows and outflows. Subnets with sustained net outflows now receive zero emissions. The upgrade followed Bittensor's first halving on December 12, 2025, which cut daily issuance from 7,200 to 3,600 TAO. TAO's maximum supply is capped at 21 million tokens. The ecosystem now supports 128 active subnets with cumulative valuations near $1.5 billion and generated $43 million in Q1 2026 revenue from AI compute. Under Yuma Consensus rules, emissions are split 41% to miners providing compute, 41% to validators scoring output quality, and 18% to subnet owners building infrastructure.
