Bitcoin Network Reaches 100,000 Blocks Until Next Halving in Early-Mid 2028

Bitcoin network has reached approximately 100,000 blocks remaining until the next scheduled halving, projected for early-to-mid 2028. Based on Bitcoin's average block time of roughly 10 minutes, the halving will occur at block height 1,050,000.

The most recent halving took place in April 2024 at block 840,000, reducing miner rewards from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC per block. The upcoming halving will reduce issuance further to 1.5625 BTC per block. At current rates, approximately 450 new BTC enter circulation daily; after the next halving, that figure will decline to roughly 225 BTC daily. Bitcoin halvings occur automatically every 210,000 blocks and are hardcoded into the protocol, capping maximum supply at 21 million coins.
