According to researchers at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, global Bitcoin mining annual electricity consumption surged from 138 terawatts per hour (TWh) to approximately 190 TWh between June 2024 and December 2025. The data reveals that approximately 10% of mining enterprises have already begun allocating power to artificial intelligence or high-performance computing, while over 40% are exploring such transitions. The shift reflects the growing convergence of mining infrastructure with AI infrastructure expansion.
