According to Counterpoint Research, Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market in 2026 is expected to capture 25% of the global market share in its first year. The foldable phone market overall is projected to grow 21% year-over-year in 2026, driven by increased demand for high-end flip devices and expanded competition.
Samsung's market share is forecast to decline from 40% in 2025 to 32% in 2026, while Huawei is expected to maintain 24%. Counterpoint vice director Liz Lee noted that Apple's entry will significantly enhance consumer awareness and set new standards for the premium foldable market, though Samsung retains advantages in product maturity, channel coverage, and user experience.
