American Express and Chase Expand Premium Lounges Beyond Airports in 2025-2026, Fees Hit $895 and $795

According to CNBC, American Express and Chase expanded premium lounges beyond airports in 2025 and 2026, offering cardholders access to exclusive spaces at major sporting events and festivals. Amex Platinum cardholders gained lounge access at the US Open, Stagecoach music festival, and multiple Formula 1 races worldwide. Chase Sapphire Reserve members accessed lounges at Lollapalooza, Miami Art Week, and the PGA Tour. The companies also operate permanent lounges at stadium and arena venues globally.

Amex Platinum and Sapphire Reserve cards increased annual fees to $895 and $795 respectively, with these premium experiences designed to justify higher costs and attract affluent spenders. Data from J.D. Power showed cardholders with fees exceeding $500 spent an average of $3,200 monthly from May 2025 to June 2026, up 17% year-over-year, compared to $1,144 monthly for those with lower-fee cards.
