Amazon Deploys 29 Satellites, Bringing Leo Network Total to 390+ as Early Service Launch Nears Later This Year

According to CNBC, Amazon deployed 29 satellites via United Launch Alliance's Atlas V rocket on Thursday, bringing its Leo low-earth orbit satellite network total to over 390 satellites. Vice President Chris Weber stated the constellation now has sufficient capacity to provide continuous network service across initial coverage areas, with the company targeting an early service launch later this year to compete with SpaceX's Starlink.

Amazon plans to accelerate deployment using ULA's Vulcan heavy-lift rocket for upcoming launches, which can carry more satellites per mission. The company aims to eventually build a constellation of approximately 7,700 satellites.
