According to Intelligencer’s courtroom report, Sam Altman testified during recent OpenAI litigation that Elon Musk interrupted a critical merger discussion between OpenAI and Tesla by pulling out his phone to show memes. Altman recalled that Musk insisted everyone view the images for an extended period while the two sides were in heated negotiations over a potential acquisition. The courtroom scene drew gasps when the court reporter requested Altman repeat his statement, asking in disbelief: “You said memes on his phone?”
