Trump announces tariffs on 8 European countries over Greenland issue

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Trump posted on Truth Social stating that due to issues related to Greenland, starting from February 1 of this year, the United States will impose a 10% tariff on all goods exported from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland to the US, and plans to raise the tariff rate to 25% on June 1. These tariff measures will continue until an agreement is reached on the “comprehensive and thorough purchase of Greenland.”

Trump stated that the recent actions of the aforementioned countries regarding Greenland pose potential risks to global security and stability, and the US believes it is necessary to take strong measures in response. Meanwhile, the European Union will hold an emergency meeting of member state ambassadors in Brussels on the 18th to discuss the Greenland situation and the latest US tariff threats.
