Tim Beiko from the Ethereum Foundation has announced a significant course correction. The developer is moving away from the Layer-1 level and is now focusing on exploring innovative applications of the Ethereum network. Through the social network X, Beiko made it clear that the Ethereum protocol is approaching the completion of its development, while the true potential as a distributed, global “World computer” has yet to be unlocked.
Alongside this new orientation, Beiko remains a protocol advisor for the Ethereum Foundation. In this role, he will continue to work on cooperation initiatives within the Foundation and the broader ecosystem, without fully stepping back from the protocol level. This dual role allows him to continuously bring insights from L1 research into application development.
Another area of engagement will be Beiko’s work with the Association for Cryptologic Development (ACDE). There, he is extending his commitment and actively participating in meetings. Ansgar agreed to extend the executive management, and Beiko will remain continuously present until a permanent governance structure is established.
